And I was right, you know? Totally worth the long drive (and the various side-trips I ended up making along the way).
Must have been meant to see Flock of Dimes tonight as they seem to be everywhere I look lately. And Jenn Wasner & Co were fantastically good. Got this on vinyl, too - well worth the $6. Oh! And I got to talk to Jenn Wasner for a second or two… That was pretty damn cool.
Then it was Sharon Van Etten time. She was glorious. Like really, really amazing. Plus, she performed my favorite song. And she had a lovely sense of humor, too.
ps - just realized that Jenn Wasner is also a part of Wye Oak. Sweet.
Sharon Van Etten will be here at the Square Room tomorrow with Jenn Wasner (from Wye Oak). Purchase tickets here!!
About five miles from our home, there’s been a crazy mulch fire that’s been burning for more than a day now. The fire started Sunday around noon at a nine-acre mulch facility near downtown Knoxville. The area where Alcoa Highway meets I-40 is still hazy with smoke, and the smell of burning mulch has wafted over towards our house.
It’s an unbelievable scene, and I feel for the firefighters that have been working around the clock to put out the flames.
